The World Cancer Congress organised by the Union for International Cancer Control (UICC) in Hong Kong provided an opportunity to connect with global cancer-control practitioners, researchers, clinicians and partners, while exchanging perspectives on strengthening prevention, screening, diagnosis and care. CAPED was represented at the WCC 2026 by Ms. Mridu Gupta who presented two research studies on cervical cancer prevention and HPV vaccination.
The studies presented on Days 2 and 3 focused on:

- Decentralising HPV DNA Screening in Underserved Settings: A Hub & Spoke Model from Jharkhand, India sharing field-level evidence on strengthening cervical cancer screening and diagnosis in underserved communities.
- Improving HPV Vaccine Acceptance in India: A Multi-Sectoral Approach through Schools, Communities, and Partnerships — highlighting the role of schools, communities and cross-sector partnerships in advancing HPV vaccination and cancer prevention.
CAPED also had the opportunity to meet & engage with colleagues from across the global cancer community. The experience reinforced an important message: local evidence has a vital place in global conversations, and meaningful progress in cancer prevention comes through collaboration, research and shared learning.
Beyond CAPED’s research presentations, WCC also offered a glimpse into the rapidly evolving landscape of cancer research and treatment.
